Tuvalu (/tuːˈvɑːluː/ (listen) too-VAH-loo or /ˈtuːvəluː/ TOO-və-loo; formerly known as the Ellice Islands) is an island country in the Polynesian subregion of Oceania in the Pacific Ocean. Its islands are situated about midway between Hawaii and Australia.
